Om Sai, Sangarsha emerge kabbadi champions


Borivali’s Om Sai Krida Mandal and Sangarsha from Goregaon emerge men and women’s champions on the final day of the Poinsur Gymkhana’s 7th Open Kabaddi tournament, held at Country Parle Garden, Opposite Tata Steel (Borivali East) last night. While junior boys title went to Jogeshwari’s Sphuti who downed Gokulvan 26-11 to clinch the title.

The Om Sai men were in their element right from the start and led 14-7 in the first half, scoring 12 points plus two “lones”, but the Vakola’ outfit put up terrific fight in the second half, notching up 11 points to their opponents’ 13.
The women’s final, however, saw Sangarsha outfit proving far too superior to their bare-feet opponents Satyam girls from Ghatkopar and outplayed them 35-20 to clinch the women’s crown.

The individual prize winners were: WOMEN: Best Raider: Priyanka Ghadi (Sangarsha, Goregaon). Best defender: Pranati Kanase (Satyam, Ghatkopar). Best player: Komal Devkar (Sangarsha).
