Oishanu Borah topples top seed Shubham Pal


Rotary-Rotract  Open Badminton Championships

Gutsy Oishanu Borah rallied splendidly to oust top seeded Shubham Pal  to enter the boys under-16 singles final in the Rotary-Rotract  Open Badminton Championships, organised by Rotary Club of Mumbai (Ghatkopar ) under the aegis of Mumbai Suburban District Badminton Association at  Emerald Club, Chembur, here . Borah, after dropping the first game tamely , fought back tellingly to clinch the issue with 13-15, 15-9, 15-11 win. In the other semifinals,  Tanay Nehate overpowered Jai Agarwal 15-13, 15-10. The finals will be played on Sunday.

Tiny Taarini Suri, was pretty impressive while beating Prakriti Sharma in straight games on her way to the  girls under-10 final. While Siya Singh had tough time against Madhimita Narayan before she prevailed at 15-7, 12-15, 15-12 in the girls under-12 singles.

In the boys under-12, top seeded Siddarth Das was fully stretched by Harsh Sharma before he won 11-15, 15-13, 15-9.

Boys U-16 singles (Semifinals): Oishanu Borah bt Shubham Pal 13-15, 15-9, 15-11; Tanay Nehate bt Jai Agarwal 15-13, 15-10.

 

Boys U-12 singles (semifinals): Siddharh Das bt Harsh Sharma 11-15, 15-13, 15-9; Saransh Gajbhiye bt Harshit Doshi 15-12, 15-8.

 

Boys U-10 singles (Semifinals): Yasraj Kadam bt Aditya Iyer 15-5, 15-10; Parth Shah bt Avigna Gadgil 10-15, 15-3, 15-12.
