O.L. of Fatima, Ambernath down host O.L. of Egypt 5-4

Our Lady of Fatima, Ambernath defeated hosts Our Lady of Egypt, Kalina 5-4 via the sudden death tie-breaker after the teams were locked in a 1-1 draw in an Inter-Parish match for Veteran Men’s in the 17th Kalina Football League 2017 organized by Our Lady of Egypt Parish Church Sports Committee held at Our Lady of Egypt Parish Church ground, Kalina, Santacruz (East), Mumbai.

 

Mahesh Pawar scored for the Ambernath side, while Chang Vincent Fernandes scored for the hosts Our Lady of Egypt in regulation period. The first set of five kicks in the penalty shootout, only Nanda Kumar and Dinesh Dhuri succeeded in scoring for Our Lady of Fatima, while the Kalina side converted through international Jacinto D’Silva and Neil D’Costa as the stalemate continued. In the sudden death Krishna Prasad and Ronney Pinto proved successful, while only Caitano Fernandes managed to score for Our Lady of Egypt.

 

The other two matches also went to the penalty shootout duels. St. Anthony’s, Malwani prevailed over Our Lady of Health, Versova 6-5 and Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, Chembur defeated St. Joseph’s, Juhu by a similar 6-5 margin.

St Anthony’s, Malwani 6 (Douglas Pimenta 2, Kiran Chavate 1, Philip D’Souza 1, Aijaz Rizvi 1, Harish Koli 1) beat Our Lady of Health, Versova 5 (Anthony Fernandes 2, Sharad Nasiba 1, Sheldon Fernandes 1, Chetan Sangoi 1) via the tie-breaker. Full-time 2-2.

 

Our Lady of Perpetual Succor, Chembur 6 (Prosenjit Barua 1, Suhas Patil 1, Douglas D’Sena 1, Richie Noronha 1, G. Adhikari 1, Savio F. 1) beat St. Joseph’s, Juhu 5 (Ryan D’Abreo 1, Sajid Khan 1, Stephen Creado 1, Philip Gonsalves 1, Lloyd Mascarenhas 1) via the sudden death tie-breaker. Full-time 0-0.
