Mumbai cueist Dhruv Sitwala, who earlier this year won his maiden major title when he clinched the ACBS Asian Billiards Championship, in Beijing was felicitated by NSCI (National Sports Club of India), here in Mumbai.
NSCI President, Jayantilal Shah and Honorary Secretary, Rakesh Malhotra, presented the newly crowned Asian Champion Sitwala with a memento at the NSCI Billiards Hall.
The dapper and lanky, left-handed Mumbai cueist Sitwala had stunned multiple world champion Pankaj Advani, the poster boy of Indian cue sports, by registering a comfortable 6-3 victory in the best-of-11-frame final in Beijing, China in April this year.
That win was all the more, sweeter for Sitwala as he in the process avenged his 1-5 loss to the Bangalore player Advani in Nationals Championship final earlier in the year.
“NSCI has always supported and encouraged sports and sportspersons. This is just a small gesture to show our (NSCI) appreciation to Dhruv (Sitwala) for winning the Asian Billiards title. We will continue to do our best to promote all sports; any discipline and will recognise and honour the achievements of our sportspersons who excel at the top level,” said Jayantilal Shah.
