Last year’s runners-up ONGC (Oil & Natural Gas Corporation) were forced to share the spoils as a determined and spirited Kankre FC held them to a fighting 1-1 draw in an Elite Division match of the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) League 2015-2016, and played at the Cooperage football ground, on Sunday evening.
ONGC faced quite a challenge from the younger Kenkre outfit who put a good fighting display and were not allowed to dictate terms. But, against the run of play, ONGC managed to take the lead through Parminder Singh in the 32nd minute and went into the break with a slender 1-0 advantage.
After the change of ends, Kenkre worked harder in their bid to find the net and their roving striker Egypsio Noronha found success when struck a goal in the 75th minute to help the team snatch an honourable draw and a division of two points.
In the next Elite Division match PIFA Colaba take on Central Bank of India on Monday at 3.00 pm.
