VASIND (THANE): Maharashtra’s Neil Maheshwari had to bring out his best while getting the better of Jishnu Thakkar, also from home state, 13-11, 4-11, 11-8, 12-10 to enter the boys under-15 pre-quarterfinals of the 7th JSW-All India Sunil Verma Squash Championship held in the JSW Squash Academy, at Vasind today. Another Maharashtra boy Varun Sharma, too, had to fight all the way before he put out Aditya Godbole 11-2, 7-11, 11-6,
Kavanpal Kohli down 0-2 fought back tellingly to beat Aarya Shah 7-11, 9-11, 11-8, 11-9 in the boys under-11, while Ishan Dabke was stretched by M.P’s Sanyak Jain before the former triumphed 11-5,12-10, 5-11, 11-6 to join Kohli in the round of 16.
However, the action in the men’s and boys under-19 and under-17 sections, more or less pettered out as most of the fancied players sailed into the next round without much ado.
