Neeraj Chopra has bagged Gold Medal for India in Men’s Javelin Throw at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics. This is the first time India has bagged Gold in Track & Field events and the Gold Medal has come to India after 13 years, when Abhinav Bindra had bagged India’s first Gold medal in men’s 10m air rifle shooting at Beijing in 2008.
Neeraj who recorded his highest score of 87.58 in the finals today remained the topper in all six rounds to win the Individual Championship and Gold medal. Another athlete Bajaranj Punia also bagged a medal for India today when he easily won his Bronze medal match against Daulet Niyazbekov of Kazakhstan in the men’s freestyle 65kg. With these two medals won by Indians today India’s tally of medals has reached 7 .
