Nadkarni Cup Knock Out Footrball Tourney
Indian Navy struck twice in the second half to sail past a determined Central Bank of India in a first round match of the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) Nadkarni Cup (knock out) Football Tournament, organised and sponsored by RCF and played at the RCF ground, Chembur on Monday. Sumesh P.S. and Vishnu T. with a strike each were on target for the Navymen.
The sailors and the bankers, both dished out a good performance but were unable to find the net in the first half.
However, soon after play resumed after the break, Navy returned with renewed vigour and in the third minute of the second period broke the deadlock with Sumesh scoring from a free-kick in the 48th minute.
Navy consolidated the lead when Vishnu found the back of the net in the 72nd minute.
