Players representing Thane and Navi Mumbai teams namely Namo Thane Thunderbolts and Navi Mumbai Ninjas played exceptionally well remaining unbeaten in their respective group league matches to qualify for the knock out stage in the Men’s Singles Table Tennis competition at Mumbai Games played at Chhatrapati Shahaji Raje Andheri Sport Complex today. Some other sports like Badminton, Vollyball, Football, Gymnastics etc are also being conducted simultaneously on week ends at different venues.
Suraj Chandrashekar from Navi Mumbai who is defending the title seemed to be favourite won all his matches from Group 1 , while his doubles partner Dijang Kamson also from Navi Mumbai topped from Group 2. The other Navi Mumbai players to top their respective groups were Saneet Patil, Sagar Mandal, Shashank Bisht, Animesh Patel & Dennis Syriac. In the Men’s doubles ( Above 21) Suraj Chandrashekar and Dijang Kamson won the finals getting maximum points for Navi Mumbai Ninjas team.
Among the Namo Thane Thunderbolts players, Tushar Joshi, Abhijeet Deshpande, Subodh Khandekar, Kirti Vikmani,Raju Yadav, Pravin Ramakrishna. Players from Western Warriors Faizan Aboli, Nitesh Kumawat, Jitendra Tak, Gaurang Sawant , John Richard also topped their respective groups, while veteran Percy Mehta from South Mumbai Seahawks also joined them for knock out stage by topping his group in the league matches played today.
In the veterans 40+ league matches played today, Jayant Gunjal and Sagar Kulkarni also from Namo Thane topped their respective group league matches to qualify for the knock out stage to be played on Saturday 18th January 2020. Favourite Ravi Chopra from South Mumbai Seahawks also topped his group to qualify for the knock out stage.
