Kalina United put up a determined display to pull off a close 1-0 win against KVB Franco Sports in a Men’s Open 6th round match of the 17th Kalina Football League 2017, organised by the Our Lady of Egypt Church Sports Committee, and played at the Our Lady of Egypt Church grounds, Kalina. Striker Naresh Baji scored United’s decisive winning goal.
In the second match, Air India Colony tamed Egyptian Boys 5-1. Sachin Medar, Kishan Singh, Vivek Jadhav, Manoj Karle and Divesh Rajput, all contributed a goal each to seal the AI Colony’s win while Egyptian Boys got the lone goal through Kelvin Pereira.
Earlier, former champions Kalina Village Boys were held to a 1-1 draw by FC Kolovery. Seasoned Sheldon Sharma was on target for Village Boys and Nigel Fernandes scored Kolovery’s goal.
