Nandini Balla nets winner in South Mumbai’s victory


South Mumbai United played with plenty of determination and managed to overcome the challenge from India Rush and pulled off a narrow 1-0 win in a well-contested Women’s Super Division match of the Mumbai Football Association (MFA) League 2022-2023 and played at the Neville D’Souza ground, Bandra on Wednesday morning.

The hard-working Nandini Balla struck the lone goal in the 64th minute to help South Mumbai United Clinch a hard-earned victory and to pocket all the three points.

Sahar Silver Star SC recorded an identical 1-0 win against Twinkle Star SC in an engrossing Third Division play-off encounter, played at the YMCA ground, Mumbai Central. Striker Satyam Chaudhary struck the all-important winner in the 34th minute to seal the win.

In a closely contested and exciting match, St. Rock’s FC worked hard to get the better of Bombay Baptist Church by a fighting 3-2 margin. For St. Rocks striker Harsh Ratne scored two goals and Samar Bhanji got one, while Bombay Baptist Church scored both their goals through Harshdeep Gorade’s efforts.

In the third match of the day, Youngstar Sports Club and Dazzlers FA shared honours as they played out a tame goalless draw.
