Suhas Nadkarni Maharashtra State Badminton Tournament 2023
Top seeds Naishaa Bhatoye of Greater Mumbai and Sarvesh Yadav of Thane comfortably won their respective girls’ and boys’ under-17 quarter-final matches in the Suhas Nadkarni Memorial Yonex Sunrise Maharashtra State Open Badminton Tournament 2023, organized by the MIG Cricket Club under the auspices of the Maharashtra Badminton Association (MBA) and played at the Andheri Sports Complex courts, on Thursday.
Naishaa was in complete control against Anvisha Ghorpade and strolled to a quick 21-3, 21-4 victory in just 15 minutes, while Sarvesh played aggressively from the start and stormed past Kshitij Nachane with a dominant 21-4, 21-3 success in just 11 minutes.
Meanwhile, the second seed in the girls’ event, Ketaki Thite of Mumbai Suburban had quite a fight on hand before getting the better of Aditi Gawade in two closely contested games at 21-12, 21-17 in 31minutes. Riya Vinherkar from Greater Mumbai produced a solid performance to outlast Sarah George by coasting to a 21-8, 21-4 win in 24 minutes to also progress to the semi-finals.
Boys’ second seed Swaraj Bhamare from Nashik faced quite a strong challenge from Ved Bhoir but managed to scrape through in two hard-fought games, winning at 23-21, 21-14 in 29 minutes.
