Nagpur snatch 49-47 win against Ratnagiri


Nagpur Blasters showed remarkable fighting qualities as they managed to snatch a tight 49-47 win against Ratnagiri Vipers in an exhilarating girl’s Group-B match of the Basketball Network Academy (BNA) organised Junior Basketball League 2022 for the ageasFEDERAL Trophy, and played under floodlights at the  Dr. Muthukumar Basketball Court, Indian Gymkhana, Matunga on Saturday evening. The tournament is being conducted under the auspices of the Maharashtra State Basketball Association & in association with Indian Gymkhana.

In an evenly contested encounter, Nagpur shooters Muskaan Ajmani and Kushi Solanki scored 17 and 11 points respectively while teammates scored a couple of occasional baskets to secure their win. Ratnagiri Vipers who were unfortunate to lose narrowly managed to score their points through Harshali Jadhav 21 points and Afza Khan 14 points.

Later, in a boy’s Group-B encounter, Mumbai Warriors had things much their own way as they marched to a comfortable 74-38 victory against Palghar Tigers to record their second successive victory in the 3-team group.

Skipper Dev Premi 20 points, Siddhant Doshi 13 points, Shaikh Abdul Basit 11 points, and Arnav Gorantala 9 points were mainly responsible for Mumbai win. Palghar Tigers tried their best but were not consistent with their shooting as only Milan Kumar 12 points and Yaagna K. 7 points managed to score the points.

Results – Junior girls – Group-B: Nagpur Blasters (Muskaan Ajmani 17, Kushi Solanki 11) beat Ratnagiri Vipers (Harshali Jadhav 21, Afza Khan 14) – Full-time: 49-47 (half-time: 16-16).

Junior boys – Group-B: Mumbai Warriors (Dev Premi 20, Siddhant Doshi 13, Shaikh Abdul Basit 11, Arnav Gorantala 9) beat Palghar Tigers (Milan Kumar 12, Yaagna K. 7) – Full-time: 74-38 (half-time: 33-12).
