MumbaiCustoms outclass Century Rayon


 

Playing with plenty of grit and determination Mumbai Customs in grand fashion recovered from an early deficit to inflict a crushing 4-1 defeat on Century Rayon in a Rustomjee-MDFA Elite Division match at the Cooperage ground on Thursday morning. Striker Marc D’Souza netted a brace of goals while Shrikant Veramulla and Dhawal Waghela scored one each to turn things around in Mumbai Customs favour after Thotchan Vashim had given Century Rayon the lead.

 

Mumbai Customs took time to get off the blocks and fell in arrears when Century Rayon medio Thotchan Vashim scored in the 17th minute to take the lead.

 

But a resilient Customs outfit regrouped and got their act together and scored at regular intervals to charge to victory. In the 37th minute Marc scored the equalizer with a snap effort and ensured his team went into the interval tied at 1-all.

 

On resumption, Mumbai Customs showed more intent and put a lot of pressure on the Century Rayon citadel and scored three goals during this period. Midfielder Shrikant Veramallu scored the second to give Customs a 2-1 lead in the 62nd minute before Marc fired home his second and Customs’ third goal to increase the lead in the 73rd minute. Later, Dhawal hammered in the fourth goal in the 83rd minute to complete the demolition.

 

Results – Elite Div: Mumbai Cistoms 4 (Marc D’Souza 37, 73, Shrikant Veramulla 62, Dhawal aghela 83) beat Century Rayon 1 (Thotchan Vashim 17).
