With the defending champions Santacruz Gymkhana not in fray this time, former champions Andheri YMCA led by Eric Fernandes, one of the top state players, are set to reclaim the title in the Mumbai Suburban District first division table tennis league, which takes off from Friday, May 26 th at Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana. Only last week, Eric had played for City Club MLWB-KKB and helped them win Gold medal in the Mumbai City District Inter Club Table tennis league. Concurrently, the semi finals and finals of II, III and IV divisions as well as the women’s first division ties will also be played. So, after watching the Mumbai City District Premier Division league, now the TT lovers from Mumbai suburbs will witness another big competition.
Along with seasoned Eric, juniors Reagan Albuquerque, who of late has been making waves, Yash Dalvi and Hardik Panchal form quite a formidable quartet. However, they will be facing stiff competition from Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana’s ‘A’ team, comprising state’s top junior Shaurya Pednekar, Dev Shroff, Maanav Mehta and Manaav Shah in the four-team league with Sane Guruji and hosts’ second string being the other teams.
