Mumbai Marines make a positive winning start

Football report:

Producing a combined domineering performance Mumbai Marines SC made a positive start as they rolled to a facile 3-0 win against Bharia Sports Club in a Group-D match of the Soccerstar Premier League, powered by Rudra FC under the auspices of the MDFA and played at the Neville D’Souza ground, Bandra on Friday. Marines did well to pick up all the three points from their opening match in this group.

Marines started off in an offensive fashion and had things much their own way. They mounted plenty of pressure on the rival defence and took the lead through an own goal in the 23rd minute. Six minutes later, Mumbai Marines doubled the lead when opportunistic striker Sanket Bhagat hit the target with a clinical finish.

Enjoying a 2-0 cushion at the break, Marines continued in the same attacking vein and increased the lead through Vipul Lad’s snap effort in the 58th minute to complete a satisfying victory.

Earlier, Sara FC defeated Charkop FC 2-0 in a Group-A encounter to collect all the three points.

Later, in a one-sided match, D.K. Pharma SC blanked Ruffians SC ‘B’ by a thumping 9-0 margin.
