Bolstered with the presence of 2016 Summer Olympic bronze medalist Sakshi Malik in their ranks, Mumbai Maharathi are confident of putting up a formidable challenge to their other contenders and stake a claim for the top honours as the third season of the Pro-Wrestling League is set to commence from Tuesday, January 9, 2018.
Mumbai Maharathi tackle Delhi Sultans in the opening match at Siri Fort Sports Complex, New Delhi on Tuesday.
A total of six city-based teams will be battling it out in the competition with the grand finale scheduled to be played January 26. Besides Mumbai and Delhi the other four teams include UP Dangal , NCR Punjab Royals, Haryana Hammers and Veer Marathas.
Team ‘Mumbai Maharathi’ comprises of Olympic medal winner,Sakshi Malik(62kg); Andrei Yatsenco (57 kg), Ukrainian male freestyle wrestler; Russian Player,Soslan Ramonov (65kg); Veer Dev, (74 kg), Satyawart Kadian (92 kg), Satyendra Malik (125 kg), Seema (59 kg), Vascon Cynthia (76kg) from France and Nigerian player, Odunayo Folasade Adekuoroy (57 kg).
Speaking on being part of Mumbai Maharathi team, Sakshi Malik, said, “I am very happy to be with the Mumbai Maharathi team again this season. I will be trying my level best to help my team first reach the final and finish with the top honours.”
This year, the PWL is expected to emerge as the top most sports event in the wrestling calendar. With the inclusion of some of the best players from around the world it is certainly going to be one of the mega sports event of the year.
