Former Mumbai hockey player Paul Bast, passed away in his sleep in Ribandar, Goa on Wednesday evening. Bast, 56, who had relocated to Goa in 1999, is survived by his wife Melanie, son Keegan and daughter Chelsea.
Bast a student of St, Stanislaus High School, Bandra had started his career playing for Tata Electric and H&R Johnson before joining Bank of India in 1986. He was also a member of the Bombay team which participated in the Junior National Hockey Championship in Jabalpur in 1982-83.
After moving to Goa, Bast was actively involved in grassroots football coaching with youngsters, including the school children and junior Goan teams.
The final rites and burial will take place at the Our Lady of Ajuda Church, Ribandar on Saturday, March 20 at 3.30 pm.
