Mumbai FC, the lone club from the city participating in the I-League, recorded a comfortable 5-2 win against Union Bank of India in an Elite Division match of the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) League 2015-2016, and played at the Cooperage football ground on Monday.
Cletus Paul, who had earlier scored two goals in Mumbai FC’s win was later penalised for his rash tackle on a rival player and was promptly shown a direct red card by referee Louis Fernandes in the 68th minute. Japanese recruit
Taisuke Matsugae, Malemnganba Mettei and Karan Sawhney got the other goals for the winners while Shravan Shetty netted both the goals for Union Bank.
There will be no match on Tuesday. The next Elite Division match will be played between on Wednesday, October 28 at 3.30 pm.
