Former champions Mumbai FC after trailing 0-1 at half time, came into their own in the second half to overcome Rashtriya Chemical & Fertilizers (RCF) 5-1 in an Elite Division match of the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) League 2015-2016, and played at the Cooperage ground on Sunday.
RCF stunned the Mumbai FC citadel early in the match with Shahbaz Khan finding the net in the 10th minute.
The formidable Mumbai FC outfit took time to get into their groove and after much probing finally managed to break through the resolute RCF defence when their Japanese striker Taisuke Matsugae netting their first goal in the 46th minute. Taisuke also scored the 4th goal in the 77th minute. In between those two goals, Karan Sawhney 56th minute and Malemnganba Meitei 64th minute added their names to the scoresheet before Allan Dias netted the fifth in the 90th minute.
The next Elite Division match will be played between PIFA Colaba FC and Central Railway at the Cooperage on Monday at 3.00pm.
