Mumbai FC emerged supreme by winning the 109th Nadkarni Cup football tournament. The Khalid Jamil coached Mumbai FC carved out a narrow 1-0 win against defending champions Air India in a keenly contested final played at the RCF ground, Chembur on Monday afternoon.

The tournament was conducted under the aegis of MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) and hosted and sponsored by RCF (Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers).

Former Indian star Steven Dias scored the lone goal in the 2nd minute of additional period of the first half to help Mumbai FC regain the title which they had last won in 2011.

Mumbai FC received the glittering Nadkarni Cup and a cash award of Rs one lakh from Shri R.G. Rajan, Chairman & Managing Director, RCF. Air India were presented with the runners-up trophy and a cash prize of Rs 60,000. The two losing semi-finalists Mumbai Customs and Kenkre FC were rewarded with a cheque of Rs 15,000 each.

Air India captain and playmaker Vijith Shetty was declared the ‘Best player of the tournament’ and was presented with a cash prize of Rs 10,000.
