WCG Rink football
Mount Carmel, Bandra worked hard and managed to snatch a tight 3-2 win against Our Lady of Victories ‘A’, Mahim in an absorbing Men’s Open pre-quarter-final match of the Willingdon Catholic Gymkhana organized 31st Inter-Parish 5-a-side Rink Football Tournament – 2018 for the Victor D’Mello Trophy and played under floodlights at the gymkhana’s tennis courts.
Striker Brendon Picardo struck a brace of goals whil Taha Kachwala got one to secure Mount Carmel’s victory and a passage to the quarte-finals. Dion Menezes and Johnson DeSilva scored a goal each for the Mahim outfit.
In the second game, Our Lady of Salvation ‘B’, Dadar got the better of Our Lady of Health ‘B’, Sahar by a narrow 2-1 margin. Craig D’Souza was in good striking form and netted both the goals for the winners while Nathan Rodrigues pulled one back for the losers.
In Open Ladies encounter, Bodyline SC fought hard to overcome Freunds SC ‘A’ 1-0 with junior international Mhehak Lobo scoring the lone winning goal.

Open Veterans: Golden Gunners 3 (Osbern D’Souza 1, Douglas D’Sena 1, Asif Jamal 1) beat Olpers, Bandra 1 (John D’Souza 1).
Men’s Open (pre-quarter-finals): Mount Carmel, Bandra 3 (Brandon Picardo 2, Taha Kachwala 1) beat Our Lady of Victories ‘A’, Mahim 2 (Dion Menezes 1, Johnson DeSilva 1).
Our Lady of Salvation ‘B’, Dadar 2 (Craig D’Souza 2) beat Our Lady of Health ‘B’, Sahar 1 (Nathan Rodrigues 1).
