Monish,Diandra win sprint golds; Deepu,Nidhi dominate 800m runs


Monish Poojary from Sprinters Club and Diandra Valladares from Vashi’s Agnel Gymkhana were crowned the men’s and women’s 100m sprints champions on the second day of the India Masters Athletics 5-District Track & Field Championships, at the University Stadium here today.

Monish eclipsed the old timing  of 11.1 seconds by winning gold in 10.96 seconds,while Diandra triumphed in12.59 seconds.

 

Navi Mumbai’s Deepu Devrajan broke the men’s 800m in a thrilling finish, while Nidhi Singh, of Achievers SC, Thane swept the field in the girls under-18 800m event In fact, the men’s event saw all the first  three –  Deepu (2:02.40 secs), Uran’s Praful Humnb (2.02.86) and Achievers’ Darshan Devrurkar (2:10.52) improving  upon the old record of 2:12.4 secs. The day, like the opening day –  saw as many nine  new records established.

However, there was no such tension for Nidhi,  virtually just flew of the blocks  to win the girls under-18 event in new record timing of  2:31.67 secs, leaving the rest of the field way behind.  Apoorva Gaghare, another girls from Achievers  Sports club, Thane, brook no oppositions as she won the  girls under-18 100m hurdles in style.

MEN:100m: Monish Poojary (Sprinters SC) – 120.96 sec (NMR).  800m: Deepu Devrajan (Navi Mumbai-Vashi) – 2:02.40 secs (NMR). BOYS: U-20: 800m: Narayan Satheesh (Avante Garde, Thane) – 1:58.77 secs. SHOT PUT: Shubham Yadav (SAI, Kandivali) – 12.09 mts. U-18: 800m: Abdul Nazir (Navi Mumbai, Vashi) – 2:17.12 secs. LONG JUMP: Aakash Shinde (Kreeda Prabodhini, Thane)- 5.77 mts. TRIPLE JUMP: Shubham Patekar (Universal SA)- 13.55 mts (NMR). 3000m: Vignesh Thevare (Golden Eagles, Worli) – 20:21.76 secs.: U-16: 100m HURDLES: Ashish Karekar (Winners SC) – 14.56 secs. DISCUS THROW: Yash Tawade (Ryan Int. Kandivali) –  32.53 mts. HIGH JUMP: Anirudh Iyer (VPM SC, Dahisar) – 1.63 mts.

WOMEN: 100m: Diandra Valladares (Agnel Gym, Vashi) – 12.59 secs. 800m: Darshana Gavali (Somaiya-Vidyavihar)- 23:58.02 secs. HIGH JUMP: Rishika Chauhan (Avante Garde, Thane) – 1.20mts. LONG JUMP: Gauri Lamble (Universal SA) -4.75 mts. JAVELIN THROW: Zyraa Zend (Tracktotters, Mumbai)- 19.74 mts.

GIRLS U-18: 800m: Nidhi Singh (Achievers SC, Thane) – 2:31.67 secs (NMR) .100m Hurdles: Apoorva Gaghare (Achievers SC)- 15.76 secs. 3000m: Jyoti Poojary (VPM SC, Dahisar) – 12:33.48 secs. U-16: 100m: Apoorva Pawar (Sprinter SC) – 12.94 secs. (NMR).
