Mohite Bros & D’sa Couple win PJHG TT Doubles Tourney


Every year PJ Hindu Gymkhana conducts Table Tennis Doubles Tournament for all their members. But, they are Jumble Doubles tournament, when members other than Table Tennis department also take part in this tournament to enjoy this game.  This year, it was decided to have Doubles tournament with Partner of choice, to make it more competitive. The pairs were divided into two separate groups, according to their current performance.

The tournament received good response with active participation from table tennis lovers from the Gymkhana on Sunday afternoon, in spite of heavy rains . Group ‘A’  was dominated by youngsters, when Mohite brothers-  Saurabh and Rohan Mohite were crowned the winners, after they defeated Om Lotlikar & Siddhant Mehta in a well contested finals. Matches were played on league basis, to select four teams for the semi finals played on Knock out  basis, when Saurabh & Rohan defeated Prakash Punjabi & Premjit Rananavare and Om Lotlikar & Siddhant Mehta scored over Pinakin Sampat & Ulhas Shirke to enter the finals.

In Group ‘B’ former Badminton International Leroy D’sa showed his skills in Table Tennis too, when partnering his wife Maria defeated Rohan Udeshi & Sujit Jhaveri in another well contested final match. Earlier in the semi finals, the husband wife duo had surprised Pujara brothers Jigar and Rajiv with their perfect strategies. Rohan and Sujit had entered the finals scoring over seniors Dinesh Parekh and Sharad Tikekar.

 

 

Legendary  TT player Prakash Punjabi, who also took part in this tournament  and had sponsored the prizes for the Winning pairs, gave away the prizes to the Winners.
