Mixed luck for PJHG teams


P.J.Hindu Gymkhana (PJHG), Marine Drive, which promotes all sports in a best way, by sending the entries of their teams every year for the Inter Club league matches.The Gymkhana teams participate regularly in different sports events like Cricket, Badminton, Billiards/Snooker and table tennis.

The Gymkhana has sponsored six teams this year for the Mumbai District Annual Inter Club Table Tennis league, in different divisions. And, their members too, in all age groups, played for different teams on the opening day of the league matches.

In the IInd division PJHG ‘C’ team led by evergreen Prakash kelkar clashed against their ‘C’ team comprising of upcoming youngsters like Tanmay Rane, Om Lotlikar & Hardik Panchal. Prakash kelkar won both his singles matches against the youngsters, while Abhay Mehta managed the other singles, to give his team 3-1 victory.

In the third division match, The Gymkhana team lost very narrowly to Matunga Gymkhana 2-3. For PJHG ‘E’, Premjit Ranaware won both his matches defeating both Kaushik Pithadia and Percy Patel in five games thriller. But, PJHG Captain Rajesh Pandit, who played the deciding match stretched Percy Patel to 5 well fought games, was unlucky to lose the battle narrowly. The match between Ajit Gandhi of Matunga Gymnkhana and Ulhas Shirke of PJHG, was also stretched to five well contested games, which the former won, to give his team that required one point lead after the 3rd match.

Led by Deven kapadia, the PJHG ‘F’ team lost to well balanced MLWB ‘E’ team represented by Parag Pradhan ,Ravi deodhar & sanjay Deshpande. The Gymkhana team could win only one match won by Deven kapadia.

These league matches played on Home and Away basis, in double leg, will go on till 8th May; with all division finals to be played together, sometime later next month.
