The Maharashtra Labour Welfare Board ( MLWB) which has placed maximum teams in various divisions of Mumbai City District Table Tennis Association organized annual Inter Club Table Tennis league, proved their supremacy in men and women’s section, till yesterday evening. MLWB ( KKB) have two teams playing in the Men’s First division and both the teams have been doing well, by recording wins one after the other, with their balanced combination.

Yesterday evening in the first section, after recording an easy 3-0 win over Student YMCA team, the MLWB(KKB) ‘A’ team comprising of Shubham Ambre, Mandar Hardikar & Gaurav Parte defeated Student YMCA players Ravi Chopra, Percy Mehta & Sarosh Shroff respectively in straight games . However, their winning run was stopped by Parsee Gymkhana in their second match of the evening in second session. Though their star player Shubham Ambre won both his singles, he could not get good support from his team members. For Parsee Gymkhana, Sanish Ambekar, Zubin Taraporewala and Mayuresh Kelkar won one man each to win this important match 3-2. Earlier Parsee Gymkhana had also beaten PJ Hindu Gymkhana ‘A’ in their league encounter.
In the third division final round match among three teams, MLWB ( NMJ) A team represented by Mandar Chiplunkar, Parth Ghogre and Mihir Tambe scored a three 3-0 victory over CC ‘A’ team. The only close match played was between CCI’s Prakash Punjabi and MLWB’s Mihir Tambe, with the latter winning the decider at 12-10. Prakash had showed his supremacy in previous league matches played on home and away basis.
In the first division Women’s league, MLWB ‘A’ have a very strong team and are favourites in their group. On Tuesday evening their star players Senhora D’souza and Shweta Parte scored a comfortable 3-0 win over Scout Hut TT , but their ‘B’ team had a tough time, which overcoming the challenge from PJ Hindu Gymkhana women in the second division league. Though experienced Misbah Sumar who has also been part of MSL two years ago, won both her singles, but she had to battle hard against Maria D’sa in five well contested games. For PJ Hindu Gymkhana, Maria won her first singles with ease, beating Meghal F . Then, combining well with her partner Aneesha Mirchandani also won the important match of doubles. In the other matches of Women’s league, NSCI beat Procter YMCA girls 3-1 in 2nd division, while BCA Garware beat MLWB( NMJ) 3-1.
In the Inter Office league matches, Godrej & Boyce beat Compu Services in their first division match, with Sarosh Shroff winning both his matches for the winners. The scores of other men’s match was MBPT beat Compu Services 3-0 and Indian Oil beating BEST ‘C’. In the Women’s Inter Office league, Indian Oil beat BEST ‘B’ 3-0 , while BEST ‘A’ beat Indian Oil ( W.R.) 3-0. Today’s matches begin 4 pm. Onwards.
