Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) Staff CC made a winning debut by clinching the ‘F’ Division title defeating Group Satellite by three wickets in the final of the Times Shield Cricket Tournament 2023-2024, and played at the Sharad Pawar Academy ground, BKC on Saturday.
Electing to bat first, Group Satellite could only post a low total of 144 all out in 40 overs. Opener Suraj Sharma provided Group Satellite with an ideal start scoring a composed 46 runs while their captain Rohit Sahu added 26 runs before Abhijeet Rohandiya and all-rounder Manas Chavan chipped in with 16 and 18 runs respectively to lift the innings. MCA bowlers left-arm spinners Vineet Dedhia 3 for 22 and Deepak Parteki 2 for 27 and medium pacer Amogh Pandit 2 for 33 claimed the wickets.
In reply, MCA Staff CC batted steadily and comfortably surpassed the winning target reach 148 for the loss of seven wickets from 44 overs. Number four bat Sarvesh Damle top-scored with an unbeaten 54 runs which ensured they crossed the finish line to win their title on debut. Earlier, openers Vishal Chitrakar 16 runs, Sushant Bawdekar 18 runs and Sunil Lingayat 22 runs made small but useful contribution to ensure their victory. Manas Chavan took two for 40 runs.
