Maurya Youngsters FA and Mother Theresa Foundation (MTF) scored contrasting wins to advance to the Second Division semi-finals of the MDFA Leagues 2017-18 and played at the St. Xavier’s ground, Parel.
The Maurya outfit proved too strong as they inflicted a 5-0 defeat on KNFC-Naseeb Reloaded with striker Keegan Fernandes scoring twice in the first half. Later Brandon D’Souza, Azariah Thandli and Rahul Mathew chipped in with one each to complete the winning tally.
In contrast Mother Theresa scored a late winner to overcome Bombay YMCA by a close 2-1 margin. Karmesh Pakori put Mother Theresa in front with a seventh minute strike, but YMCA hit back in the next minute through Umair Ansari’s goal to level the scores. Late in the second period consistent scorer Divesh Koli found the crucial goal which helped Mother Theresa pull off a tight victory.
