Patrick Mascarenhas scored two opportunistic goals which helped Karnatak Sporting Association storm to a comfortable 4-1 win against Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers (RCF) in an Elite Division match of the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) League 2015-2016, and played at the Cooperage football ground on Saturday evening.
Karnatak’s Nigerian recruit Michael Idewele got an early breakthrough for his team with a 11th minute strike before Mascarenhas got the first, of his two goals in the 25th minute to double the lead.
Trailing by 0-2 deficit at the breather, RCF showed signs of a fight back, when Kevin Patrick scored in the second minute on resumption. But the Karnatak outfit stoutly defended their lead before striking twice in the final 10 minutes through their other Nigerian recruit Arihi Uchenna (84th minute) and Mascarenhas (88th) to finish the match as worthy winners.
The next Elite Division match will be played between Mumbai FC and Mumbai Customs on Sunday, November 8 at 3.30 pm.
