Borivali Premier Football League
Maryland United came up with a solid performance and in convincing fashion defeated Gorai FC 5-0 to register their third successive win in a third round Group-A league match of the third Borivali Premier Football League (BPFL), conducted by the Borivali Sports Foundation, under the auspices of the MDFA and played at the St. Francis D’Assisi High School ground, Borivali (West).
Strikers Christopher Fernandes and Mohith Gatty, both capitalized on the chances that came their way to score two goals each and lead Maryland’s charge to victory. Brabourne Rodrigues netted the fifth goal to finish off the match. Mohit was later declared ‘Player of the Match’.
With the full three points earned, Maryland now has 9 points, the same as Fleet Footers, who with a better goal-differential occupy the pole position.
In the other match of the same group, Hekmat Singh (24th minute)′, Kevin Silva (30th minute) and Ramesh Singh (40th minute) scored one goal apiece to steer Ruthless SC to a comfortable 3-0 win against Friends FC.
This was Ruthless’ first win in the competition, while Friends United are yet to record a win from three outings. The ‘Player of the Match’ award was won by Shubham Mane of Ruthless SC.
