Mario Fernandes and Benny Sheldon scored two quick goals to power Yawn FC to a fluent 2-0 win against Vipul Gorai FC in the opening Third Division match of the MDFA League 2018-19 and played at the St. Xavier’s ground, Parel on Monday. Yawn FC dominated play from the start and Fernandes struck the first goal in the 20th minute and three minutes later Sheldon got the second to complete the margin of victory.
Later in the evening, United FC ‘A’ overcame Vignesh Naiker FC 3-1 to collect all the three points. Amir Ansari (7th min), Faizan Shaikh (25th min) and Kashif Bagdadi (41st min) were on target for United FC while Ameya Kadu (18th min) netted the lone goal for the losers.
