Junior Manushree Patil, from Mumbai Suburbs, toppled top seeded Senhora D’Souza (Mumbai City) 4-1 to bag the women’s singles title in the YMCA-5th Maharashtra State ranking table Tennis tournament, held at Goregaon Sports Club, here today. Manushree who beat Senhora 11-8, 11-5, 11-4, 10-12, 8-11, 12-10, also triumphed in the junior girls singles, upsetting top seeded Samruddhi Kulkarni (Solapur) 7-11, 5-11, 11-7, 11-6, 15-13, 11-8.

In fact, Manushree was in line for triple crown as she had also made the youth girls final. But it was not to be, as she was beaten by top seeded Anannya Basak in pulsating tie before Anannya won 11-8, 11-7, 5-11, 11-6, 1-11, 11-6. For Anannya, it was her second title of the season, having earlier won the same event at Nashik..
Thane’s Sanish Ambekar, seeded third , was much faster and incisive against seasoned Omkar Torgalkar to bag his second title of the season with a 13-11, 5-11, 11-4, 8-11, 11-8, 11-9 win. While Ashwin Subramanian emerged best in the youth boys final as he downed sixth seeded Mandar Hardikar 12-10, 10-12, 7-11, 7-11, 11-8, 14-12, 11-9 .
