Manish Chavan the joint third-fourth seed dropped the first game against Amol Kalra but he showed solid resilience and bounced back to win the next three to carve out a satisfying 10-12, 11-6, 11-8, and 11-9 victory in the MO40 pre-quarter-finals of the third Mumbai Masters Squash Championship 2024, organized under the auspices of the Squash Rackets Federation of India and played at the Cricket Club of India courts on Friday.
In other matches, top seed Paul Ipe eased past Animesh Kejriwal 11-2, 11-8, 11-4, while the number two seed Sanjay Pawar overcame the spirited Santosh Kharat posting an 11-8, 11-6, 11-8 win progress to the quarter-finals.
In MO35 last 16 encounters, the top two seeds recorded comfortable victories. Arjun Agnihotri the number one seed brushed aside Huzefa Khorakiwala winning at 11-3, 11-5, 11-1, while second seed Prateek Chalia defeated Jehangir Aibara 11-5, 11-2, 11-9.
