Fleetfooters Football Club dished out a solid fighting performance as they rallied to defeat Wellington Football Club 2-1 in a well-contested Group-A league match of the 5th Borivali Football League (BFL) – 2022, conducted under the aegis of Mumbai Football Association, and played at the St. Francis D’Assisi HS ground, Borivali.
The Borivali League is being supported by MOC (Mumbai Oncocare Centre) and PCPL (Pranav Constructions Private Limited).
Later in a Group-B encounter, GM Sports Club got the better of Challengers Football Club by a comfortable 3-1 margin. Hersh Rall, Runal Patil, and Kshitij Chauhan, all contributed a goal each in GM Sports Club win while Challengers FC reduced the margin through Abhishek Gupta’s effort.
Earlier, Wellington FC stunned the defending champions Fleetfooters citadel and took the lead (1-0) with striker Aditya Palav finding the back of the net in the 16th minute.
But the champs came roaring back and 10 minutes later Shubham Mane scored the equalizer to ensure Fleetfooters went into the break on level terms with the scoreboard reading 1-1.
Fleetfooters and Wellington attackers continued to search for goals and there was plenty of action in the second period. However, Fleetfooters managed to snatch a late winner with the experienced Grenville Murzello scoring decisive winning goal to help his team record a satisfying win and collect all the three points. Fleetfooters medio Umesh Perambra who worked tirelessly won the ‘Man of the Match’ award.
Results – Group-A: Fleetfooters FC 2 (Shubham Mane 26′, Grenville Murzello 68′) beat Wellington FC 1 (Aditya Palav 16′).
Group-B: GM Sports Club 3 (Hersh Rall, Runal Patil, Kshitij Chauhan) beat Challengers FC 1 (Abhishek Gupta).
