Favourite and top seeded Manasi Gadgil of Pune, bagged double crown by winning the women’s and mixed doubles finals, while third seeded Mudra Dhainje and Mumbai Suburbs Harsheel Dani won their respective women’s and men’s singles titles on the final day of the the Safal Group-Maharashtra State senior badminton championships, organized by Sports United at Chembur Gymkhana, here last night.

Athletic built Manasi first paired with Vaishnavi Iyer in their 21-16, 21-15 win over Aishawarya N and Vallari Bukane in the women’d douibles final. Later, she and her Pune teammate Nishad Dravid combined nicely to to clinch the mixed doubles title at the expense of Nagpur’s pair of Vaishnavi Bhale and Govind Sahastrabudhe 21-13, 21-16.
In an all-Pune women’s singles final, third seeded Mudra, took just a little over 30 minutes to beat Neha Pandit, the defending champion, 21-16, 21-16. Mumbai Suburbs, Harsheel Dani, the top seed, just proved cut above the rest and beat Nashik’s Siddharth Thakur 21-12, 21-18 in the end to clinch the title. The most absorbing final of the day, however, was the men’s doubles final, which saw unseeded Abhidnya Sawant and AkshayRaut getting the better of second seeded Vigniesh Devlekar and Eshan Naqvci 21-19, 17-21, 21-15 in an hour long battle of wits.
