Maharashtra Women grab Gold while Men win Silver


On the final day of the 54th Senior National Kho Kho Championship, Maharashtra Women won Gold against Airports Authority of India. In the Men’s event, Railways won against Maharashtra. This is the 23rd Title for Maharashtra Women while Railways have won their 10th Title in Men’s event.

Maharashtra Women beat Airports Authority of India 13 – 11. Maharashtra’s Captain Priyanka Ingale played a captains innings (1.30 mins, 2.10 mins defence & 3 points), Apeksha Sutar (1.30 mins, 1.50 mins defence & 1 point), Reshma Rathod (1.40 mins, 2.00 mins defence & 2 points, Rupali Bade (1.20 mins, 2.00 mins defence), Snehal Jadhav (1.50 mins defence & 1 point), Pooja Fargade (3 points) gave an extraordinary performance to breeze through in the finals. Priyanka Bhopi (2.00 mins, 2.20 mins defence & 3 points), Aishwarya Sawant (2.00, 1.50 mins defence) tried their level best to support their team but fell short of reaching the podium.

Railways beat Maharashtra in Men section with a scoreline of 14 – 13 and 1.40 mins to spare. Railways Mahesh Shinde (2.00 mins, 1.10 mins defence & 1 point), Dipesh More (1.50 mins, 1.10 mins defence & 2 points), Milind Chavarekar (1.30 mins, 1.10 mins defence & 1 point). Maharashtra’s Pratik Waikar (1.30 mins, 1.00 mins defence & 1 point), Sagar Lengare (1.40 mins defence), and Akshay Bhangare (1.10 mins, 1.00 mins defence & 1 point) efforts fell short.
