Maharashtra women enter semis


Maharashtra ‘A’ women’s team  entered the semi-finals of the Team Championship when they blanked out Tamil Nadu 3-0 in the 11Even Sports 78th Senior Nationals Table Tennis Championship and played at the Manesar Sports Club on Wednesday.

The Maharashtra team comprising of Pooja Sahasrabuddhe, Charvi Kawle and Shruti Amrute were in total control and comfortably defeated their opponents from the south. Chavi was stretched by Amrutha Pushpak and this was one match that could have gone either way. In the end Chavi used the opportunities well to convert some astonishing winners.

In the semifinals to be played on Thursday, PSPB will take on Maharashtra ‘A’ and AAI will meet West Bengal.

 

Earlier in the pre-quarter-final round, Maharashtra ‘A’ defeated Rajashtan 3-2 while Maharashtra ‘B’ were beaten 0-3 by PSPB.

 

Meanwhile, Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) men entered the team semifinals when they tamed Rajasthan 3-0. They will now take on Gujarat who beat Tamil Nadu 3-1 in the first semi-final while it will be Haryana versus West Bengal in the second.
