Maharashtra to meet West Bengal in Men’s team Quarter Finals


 

54th National Kho Kho Championship for Men and Women is at present in progress at MLB Sports, Right Town, Jabalpur. At the end of the day, Madhya Pradesh. Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kolhapur, Railways, Airports Authority of India have entered the Quarter Finals. Yesterday’s rains had disrupted the matches and all these matches were conducted on the covered Mat Ground. Due to lack of time, the  authorities decided to skip the Pre-Quarter matches and the winners from each Group qualified for Quarter Finals.

The line up for Quarter Final matches in Men ‘s section will be – Maharashtra vs West Bengal, Railways vs Vidarbha, Karnataka vs Kerala & Kolhapur vs Delhi. Quarter Final matches in Women section will be played between – Maharashtra vs Punjab, Airports Authority of India vs Delhi, Haryana vs Kolhapur and Karnataka vs Orissa

In the league match between Maharashtra vs Telangana, Maharashtra won by 9 points (15-06). Gajanan Shengal (2.00, 2.30 mins defence), Milind Kurpe (5 wickets), Akshay Bhangare (2.20, 2.00 mins defence) supported the team in winning with a huge lead while Jivith Rao (2.00 mins defence & 1 point) gave lonely fight from Telangana.

 

Railways beat Chhattisgarh with a scoreline of 13-09 with an innings to spare. Akshay Ganpule, Amit Patil, Shijesh performed from Railways while Gajendra from Chhattisgarh tried his level best.

 

Maharashtra Women beat Vidarbha 10 – 04 with an innings to spare. Maharashtra’s Rupali Bade (2.50 mins defence), Apeksha Sutar (3.00 mins defence & 1 point), Arati Kamble (3.20 mins defence), Snehal Jadhav (2.00 mins defence & 2 points), Priyanka Ingale (1.40 mins not out defence & 2 points). Aishwarya Dhoke (1.40 mins defence) from Vidarbha played well.

 

In the Kolhapur vs West Bengal match in Women section, Kolhapur won with a scoreline of 6 – 5 with 4.30 mins to spare. Kolhapur’s Sneha (3.00 mins, 3.10 mins defence), rutuja (2:10 mins defence), Vaishnavi (2.40 mins, 1.40 mins not out defence) played extraordinary to win their team. Nankshita Roy (1.40, 1.50 mins defence) gave a lonely fight from West Bengal.
