Maharashtra lads score easy wins


78th Junior and Youth National TT Championships

Six Maharashtra lads easily won their respective matches to advance to the second round of the junior boys’ singles event of the 11Even Sports 78th Junior and Youth National Table Tennis Championships at the SAMA Indoor Complex on Tuesday.

In first round encounters, Mandar Hardikar blanked Gujarat’s Kaushal Bhatt 3-0, while Jash Dalvi and Raegan Albuquerque also came up with solid performances to record identical 3-0 win against Aditya Dey of Assam and Amaan M. Rahman of CBSE.

Meanwhile, Shaurya Pednekar dropped one game as he defeated Akash Barua of Assam 3-1. The other boys from Maharashtra to move ahead was Aniruddha Marathe who tamed West Bengal’s Shubhadeep Das 3-1 and Shubham Ambre who overcame Jayabrata Bhattacharjee of North Bengal also by a 3-1 margin.

In junior girls’ singles matches paddlers from Maharashtra progressed to the second round. Srushti Haleangadi had things much her own way as she outclassed Haryana’s Suhana Saini 3-0, while Shruti Amrute also enjoyed an easy outing romping to a 3-0 win over Sakshi Chaudhry of Himachal Pradesh. Meanwhile, Manasi Chiplunakar did not have to break into a sweat as he was awarded a walkover after her opponent B. Nagasravani of AP failed to report for the match.
