Maharaja, Tarun Sporting to meet in opening match


KSA Veterans tournament

 

Defending champions Maharaja (Air India) will open the defence of their title against Tarun Sporting in the first match of the 2nd Late Shri Vishwanath Anchan Memorial Veterans’ Football Tournament 2019, organized and hosted by the Karnatak Sporting Association at the Karnatak SA ground, Cross Maidan on Monday, February 4, 2019. The match is scheduled to kick-off at 2.00pm.

 

A total of 12 teams from Mumbai will be fighting it out for the in this tournament, which will be played on a league-cum-knockout basis.

 

The participating teams are Maharaja (Air India), Mumbai Customs, Tarun Sporting, Golden Gunners, Bandra Packers, Alfa Football Academy, Central Railway, Priya Darshani Park (PDP), Tiger Foundation, Ordnance Factory (Ambernath), Rudra Football Academy and hosts Karnatak Sporting Association.

 

The teams have been divided into four groups of three each and the top team from each group will advance to the semi-finals, which is scheduled for Friday, February 8 and the grand finale the next day.

 

The champions will be presented with the handsome Late Shri Vishwanath Anchan Memorial trophy and a cash award of Rs 50,000. The runners-up would also receive a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 35,000. The third and fourth placed teams will get a cash prize of Rs 15,000 and Rs 5000 respectively.
