In another quarter-final encounter played on a side table, Vimal Mariwala continued to work his magic as he sustained his impressive winning streak to shape the fortunes of Radio Club’s team Radio ‘Tigers’. Mariwala playing without any stress enjoyed every moment on the table as he went for his shots and played some amazing pots in winning both his frames to help Tigers rally to a convincing 3-1 win against challengers Dadar Club ‘Fighters’ and a semi-final meeting with the young Khar Gym team.

Khar Gym started on a positive note s their doubles combo of Sahil Kakkad and Karan Rao (+30 handicap) managed to put it across the ECC duo of Mahesh Jagdale and Sunil Jain (+14) by a close 64-59 margin in the 9-red doubles first frame to put their team in front.

Later, the 14-year-old Sumehr (+30 in splendid fashion fought back to outshine Rajwardhan Joshi (+25) 102-89 in the 15-red singles second frame. The budding cueist Sumehr who trailed by 35 points clawed his way back with a 20 plus run and followed it with a tidy effort to cut the difference. Then with only the last two colours remaining the scores were level at 89-all and the youngster did well to pocket the pink but missed the black and fortunately it was safe. After a couple of safety shots from both players Sumehr made a bold attempt and succeeded to pot the black to win the frame and extend Khar Gym’s lead to 2-0.

In the third frame, which was also a 15-red singles contest, the 20-year-old Harmehr (+30) mixed aggression with caution as he managed to overcome all the challenges posed by the experienced Anurag Bagri (+30) to script a deserving 109-73 victory and clinch a quick verdict in Khar Gym’s favour.
