Kulkarni family comprising of Suhas Kulkarni, brother Jayant Kulkarni and his wife Neeta bagged one medal each at the 4th Maharashtra State Veterans Table Tennis Tournament, 2017 hosted by Prabodhankar Thackeray Krida Sankul, Vile Parle( East) under the auspices of MSVTTC during this weekend.
While former international Suhas Kulkarni bagged Gold defeating 3rd seed Yogesh Desai in the finals of Men’s 65+ Singles, his younger brother bagged a Silver, as he lost to hard hitter Dinkar Selarka in the finals of Men’s 60+ . Jayant’s wife Neeta, who was in good form before reaching finals of Women’s 50+ singles, had to satisfy with Silver medal, as she lost to Suhasini Bakre ( formerly Surekha Pusalkar)in the finals.
Former international Sunil Babras celebrated his 6th Gold medal of the season, in Men’s 50+ section, when he beat in form Ram Kadam 3-1 in the finals of this group. Besides winning all four state ranking veterans’ tournaments, Sunil also won Gold medals at the South Asian Veterans TT Tournament at Sri lanka and Forza International TT Tournament which concluded in Goa last week.
Rohit Choudhary also continued his winning run displaying his consistency, while beating Kiran Salian in the finals of Men’s 40+ section, while Dinkar Selarka proved that he was supreme in absence of Prakash kelkar, who did not play this tournament. Dinkar beat hard hitter Jayant Kulkarni 3-1, with his better ball control in the finals of men’s 60+ section.
In the Women’s 40+ section Chandrama Ramkumar from Pune won her maiden title, when she knocked out top seeded Trupti Machve from Thane 3-1, while Mangal Saraf proved matchless, when she beat Rajeshwari Mehtre 3-0.

Century Warriors bag team Title
In the team championship event, which had gathered record number of entries, Century Warriors team represented by Sunil Babras and kapil Kumar bagged the Winners Trophy, when they beat well balanced Gomantak ‘A’ team 3-0. Earlier in the semi finals, Century Warriors had a tough time overcoming the challenge from KRC Kandivali, as Dinkar Selarka had beaten Kapil Kumar with ease, while Gomantak had scored over Pune’s PYC Gymkhana.
The tournament was held in memory of Late Dr.Ramesh Prabhu former popular MLA of Vile Parle constituency . His wife and son were present at the prize distribution ceremony along with other trustees of the club. Former State and national level player Ratan Mahajan paid a surprise visit during the finals and wished all her old friends, including Kulkarni family .
