In another interesting tie, Nandini Sawant created a mild flutter as she upset fancied stylish but erratic Siddhi Kolekar 11-9, 11-8, 9-11, 11-9. However, later she fell to the guiles Sampada Biwandkar in straight games (8-11, 4-11,9-11).

Shubham Shinde matched fancied Rohit Mirchandani stroke for stroke before winning 5-11, 11-9,11-8, 11-6, while Omkar Lamkhede’s over enthusiasm saw him squandering 2-0 lead against Sanvaish Jadhav before he recovered in time to prevail at 11-9, 14-12, 10-12, 4-11, 11-5 before entering the junior boys singles quarterfinals.
