Two outstation teams, Kolkata XI and Akbar Travels, Kerala, will be the main attraction during the Karnatak Sporting Association (KSA) organized 3rd Late Shri Vishwanath Anchan Memorial Veterans’ football tournament 2019-2020, to be played at the KSA ground, Cross Maidan from March 2 to 14, 2020.
Both, Kolkata XI and Akbar Travels have been seeded directly in the quarter-finals and will be joined by six qualifiers.
Twelve teams have been divided into three groups of four each and will participate in the preliminary qualifying phase of the competition which will be played on a league basis. The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarter-finals.
The local challenge from the Mumbai teams is expected to come from last year’s champions Central Railway, runners-up Bandra Packers, Golden Gunners, Tarun Sporting to name a few and hosts Karnataka SA.
The semi-finals are scheduled to be played on Thursday, March 12 and the grand finale will be played on Saturday, March 14.
The teams – Group A: Central Railway, Tarun Sporting, Mumbai United, Tiger Foundation.
Group B: Bandra Packers, ABC Malad, Golden Gunners, Soccer XI.
Group C: Karnatak SA XI, Alpha SA, Xavierites, Vile Parle, Rudra Academy.
