Kokane strike in Somaiya 1-0 win


Somaiya SA showed excellent fighting spirit and managed to carve out a hard-fought 1-0 win against Rising Sun FA in a closely contested Women’s Super Division match of the Mumbai Football Association (MFA) League 2022-2023 and played at the Neville D’Souza ground, Bandra on Thursday evening.

The star performer for Somaiya FA was striker Dnyaneshwari Kokane who scored the lone goal of the match in the 51st minute to help her team snatch a narrow victory and to pocket all the three points.

Earlier, in another match, Rudra FA produced a 5-star performance and charged to a massive 5-0 win against Oscar Foundation. Strikers Sadhna D. and Nisha Patil both struck two goals each while Samiksha Powar scored one to complete Rudra FA’s winning tally.

In the third match of the same division, India Rush defeated Sporko CFCI 3-0 with Komal Kamble scoring a brace of goals while Riana Tantra got one to seal the win.

In a Women’s Premier Division encounter, Mumbai Knights had things much their own way and blanked Future Star 4-0. Strikers 4 Priyanka K. scored three goals while Sai Sankhe scored one to round-off the winning margin.

Later, in a Men’s First Div Play-off Joyson Chettiar scored the lone goal as India On Rush defeated Fr. Agnel Gymkhana 1-0.
