Kirti College, KES College score convincing victories


 

Kirti College produced a superb all-round performance to record a comfortable 104 runs victory against Prakash College in a first round match of the 9th Saqib Rizvi Memorial Inter-Collegiate Rotating Trophy Cricket Tournament, organised under the auspices of MCA by the Junior College’s Sports Association of Mumbai and sponsored by the Rizvi Education Society’s Rizvi College of Arts,, Science & Commerce and played at Matunga.

 

Electing to bat first Kirti College scored 160 for 4 wickets in 15 overs. Half century knocks from opening batsmen Vishwajit Jagdale (60) and Harshal Kharade (57 not out) enabled Kirti set their opponents quite a challenging target.

 

Later, the Kiriti bowlers were a disciplined lot and dismissed Prakash College for a paltry 56 in 13.2 overs. Rishi Narang (4/15), Mangesh Desai (2/10) and Vishwajit Jagdale (2/2) were the pick of the bowlers.

 

In another match, Sailee College registered a thumping 9-wicket win against KES College.

 

Put in to bat first Sailee College batsmen found the going tough and were bowled out for 65 in 13.5 overs. Parth Mistry was the only batter to score 22 runs, while KES College bolwers Devansh Vijay (2/16), Aryan Shetty (2/14) and Gautam Waghela (2/1) were mainly responsible to rock the opposing batsmen. KES College easily chased down the target making 66 for the loss of one wicket. Gautam Waghela (29), Meet Shethiya (23 not out) and Shubham Chhag (10 not out) scored the required runs to see their college through to the next round.

 

Brief scores:

Sailee College 65 all out, 13.5 overs (Parth Mistry 22; Devansh Vijay 2/16, Aryan Shetty 2/14, Gautam Waghela 2/1) lost to KES College 66 for 1 in 6.1 overs (Gautam Waghela 29, Meet Shethiya 23 not out, Shubham Chhag 10 not out). Result: KES College won by 9 wickets.

 

Kirti College 160 for 4, in 15 overs (Vishwajit Jagdale 60, Harshal Kharade 57 not out; Fardeen K. 2/24) beat Prakash College 56 all out, 13.2 overs (Rishi Narang 4/15, Mangesh Desai 2/10, Vishwajit Jagdale 2/2). Result: Kirti College won by 104 runs.
