Kirtane,Vasant bag double crowns


Lefthander Nitin Kirtane, the Pune based ex-international and Mumbai’s  Mayur Vasant played to their wonted form as both  won their respective plus 35 and plus 55 singles and doubles titles the Khar Gymkhana-Maharashtra State  Masters Tennis Tournament  at their courts here today. Nitin outclassed Imran Yusoo 6-1, 6-1 in the singles and then partnered Amanaya Chandavarkar to down Imran Yusoof and Shravan Satyani 6-2,6-4 in the doubles (+35) final.

So was  Mayur, who was just too good for Kishore Sabnis, winning the plus 55 singles 6-2, 6-0 after  the pair of Mayur Vasant and NV Gajjar got the better of    Rajeev Punjabi and Kishore Sabnani 6-2,6-4 in the doubles. But it was not so, for hosts Gaurav Kapadia, who lost his plus 45 singles to his doubles partner Neelkanth Damre (2-6, 4-6).However, Gaurav had the consolation of winning the doubles with Neelkanth as the pair beat Ketan Bedekar and Cuffy D’Souza 6-3,6-2.

Men (+65) doubles: Shyam Bhagat/Motilal Shewarma bt Sudhir Shah/Anil Mordani   6-1, 6-1.

 

Men (+75) doubles: Subhash Trilok/Shyam Bhagat bt V.R Iyer/Subhash Mukherji 6-2,6-0.
