Imran Khan of Madhya Pradesh showed excellent touch and potted consistently to charge past Fahad Mithaiwala posting a quick 4-0 (52-19, 77-65, 59-18, and 41-9) victory in a best-of-7-frame final qualifying round match of the Rs 12.5 lakh prize-money CCI Snooker Classic 2024, organised by the Cricket Club of India, and played at the CCI’s Sir Wilson Jones billiards hall on Thursday.
Earlier, in another final qualifying round contest between seasoned Mumbai cueists Manav Panchal struck good form to prevail over Vishal Gehani 4-1 (68-46, 71-1, 43-53, 65-61, and 50-38) to qualify for the main draw.
Tamil Nadu’s Vijay Nichani was a bit scratchy, but still managed to stave off the challenge from Kalpesh Mevada by grounding out a 4-0 (62-48, 61-45, 68-39, and 68-62) win to also progress to the main draw.
Vishwajeet Mohan also had things much his own way and constructed a break of 54 in the opening frame and eased past Sumit Ahuja pulling off a 4-1 (74-18, 15-84, 71-40, 70-52, and 87-13) victory in another final round qualifying encounter.
