Kenisha, Kiran swim to glory


Kenisha Gupta, who has represented India in the South Asian Aquatic Championshis,  held in Colombo (Sri Lanka), won six golds, while creating  three new meet records to emerge the undisputed under-15 champion in the GMAAA Inter-School/Junior Colleges Swimming championships, hosted by  Mandpeshwar Civic Federation at their  swimming pool at Borivali here today.

The girl from Fazlani, earlier in July, had captured four golds and two silvers in the junior Nationals and in the Colombo South Asian meet, bagged the top honours with four golds to claim the under-15 honours.

 

And today, Kenisha was just too good for her rivals, beating them by miles so to say, in the 100m breast stroke (01:21.15 secs), 50m free style (00:28.79 secs) and 100m individual medley (01:12.21 secs) on way to re-writng new records. She added three more in between winning the 100m back stroke (01:14.42 secs), 100m butterfly (01:13.80 secs) and 100m free style (01.03.50 secs). Sharing the final day’s glory with her was Sanah Bhabha, who claim the under-17 honours, aggregating 28 points  while winning  four golds.

 

Among boys Kiran Mathew of  Hiranandani (Powai) with  42 points, won golds in all the six events – 100m free style, 100m back stroke,  100m buytterfly,  100m breast stroke and 100m individual medley in gthe boys under-19 age group. However, he could create new mark only in one event – 100m free style, clocking 00:57.75 secs, thus eclipsing Hormuz Baliwala’s 2010 timing of 00:59.19 secs.

Individual winners in various age groups:

BOYS U-19: Kiran Mathews (Hiranandini, Powai) – 421 pts – 6 golds (1NMR). U-17: Aryan Dadiala (Jamnabai Narsee) – 31 pts – 3G+2S. U-15: Vinit Mane (Vibgyor, Goregaon)- 35 pts – 5 G. GIRLS U-17:  Sanah Bhabha (Jamnabai Narsee ) – 28 pts – 4G. U-15: Kenisha Gupta (Fazlani) – 42 pts – 6G (with 3NMRS).

GIRLS: U-15: 100M BREAST STROKE: Kenisha Gupta (Fazlani – 01:21.15 secs). – (Old record – 01:21,.62 secs). 50M FREE STYLE:  Kenisha Gupta (Fazlani – 00:28.79 secs) –  (Old record – 0o:29.45 secs). 100M INDIVIDUAL MEDLEY: Kenisha Gupta (Fazlani – 01:12.21 secs. )- (Old record – 01:13.18 secs).,
