Karnatak Sports Club into S/F


Karnatak Sports Club showed strong nerves to get the better of Bombay Fort SC 6-4 via the tie-breaker penalty shootout in a quarter-final round match of the 10th Late Adv. A.R. Kudrolli Memorial Knockout Football Tournament 2016, conducted by The Karnatak Sporting Association and played at the KSA ground, Cross Maidan. The evenly contested match finished in a 1-1 draw.

Bombay Fort against the run of play took the lead when striker Akshay Agarwal found the back of the net in the 26th minute of play to give his team a 1-0 half-time advantage.

However, the Karnatak SC outfit returned a transformed side after the break and fought back to snatch a late equalizer through Charnel D’Almeida to take the match to the tie-breaker.

In the tense penalty shootout duel, the Karanatak side successfully converted all their five attempts through Lawrence Betgeri, Dinesh Pawar, Roger Sam, Valentine Pereira and Akshay Pawar to secure their passage to the semi-finals. Bombay Fort could only score three with Sanjay Rathod, Prasanna Shetty and Kartik Shetty finding the back of the net.

Results (quarter-final round):  Karnatak Sports Club 6 (Charnel D’Almeida,  Lawrence Betgeri, Dinesh Pawar, Roger Sam, Valentine Pereira, Akshay Pawar) beat Bombay Fort SC 4 (Akshay Agarwal, Sanjay Rathod, Prasanna Shetty, Kartik Shetty) via the tie-breaker. Full-time : 1-1.
